It is my pleasure to welcome you to the World Health Organization (WHO) Committee, where we will be discussing “Preventing the Next Global Pandemic of Emerging Infectious Diseases.” This year's theme, Yin and Yang, reminds us that balance is essential when facing global challenges. Just as Yin and Yang represent different forces that depend on one another, protecting global health requires a balance between prevention and response, national interests and international cooperation, and individual responsibility and collective action. Throughout this committee, you will encounter different opinions, priorities, and challenges, but these differences should encourage meaningful debate and help us create balanced and effective solutions. I encourage every delegate to participate, cooperate, think creatively, and respect different perspectives while working toward the shared goal of protecting global health. Remember that even when nations disagree, diplomacy and cooperation can help us find common ground.
