“These [the students] are the hope of this county,” commented Mr. Pascal Ashkar, the IB World School Senior Manager, at the end of his visit to Houssam Eddine Hariri High School on June 20, 2022. Mr. Ashkar, accompanied by Mrs. Anjel Lublubjian Bouari, the Chair of the Association of the IB World Schools in Lebanon, attended the showcasing of students’ work from the PYP and the DP programmes. The showcasing included Grade 5 PYP exhibition topics, CAS portfolio and TOK exhibition projects where students presented their projects, demonstrating inquiry-based learning that contributes to developing a profile of life-long learners.
The visit concluded with a meeting attended by Mr. Ashkar, the head of the school, the heads of the departments, and the IB Coordinators. The meeting focused on the achievements of Houssam Eddine Hariri High school as an IBWS for the last few years and the aspirations to have a clear strategic plan to cope with the challenges on a national and local level. During this meeting, Mr. Ashkar stressed the fact that the IB organization offers its support to the IB World Schools in Lebanon and acknowledges the concerns and the hardships that these educational institutions deal with. Mr. Ashkar expressed his appreciation for all the achievements our school has maintained to offer quality education that eventually would help in the rise of our beloved country, Lebanon.
