Twice the congratulations – HHHS students win first and second place at RHU robotics competition

22 Jan 2020

In alignment with our school vision to enhance STEM skills, and in an attempt to bolster our practices in Engineering and Coding Education, Houssam Eddine Hariri High School participated in the Seventh Annual Robotics Competitions at Rafeek Hariri Univeristy. Each year, the Student Technology Club (STC) at RHU organizes a challenging robotics competition for the middle and high school students and this year was no exception. These robotics Competitions involve student teams tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. Students use STEM concepts to learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications and more. The seventh annual competition was held on January 18, 2020 at RHU Campus with the participation of 30 teams from 15 different schools from all over Lebanon This year's mission was to build and program a robot to storm the #Area51. The robot had to overcome many obstacles on its way before it can storm the restricted Area. Congratulations to our diligent student, Ghida Baltaji, who won the first place and earned a scholarship from RHU for her outstanding performance on and off the field. Congratulations to our hardworking and committed students Omar Kassar and Hisham Lakkis for winning the second place and designing a robot that overcame the obstacles. The event was a success as it provided an environment for our students to showcase their STEM skills related to engineering, and helped them learn to deal with success, defeat and stress.
