Grade 6 Performance Task

NAIS Challenge 20/20 is a project that HHHS adopted this year whereby major global issues were tackled in different grade levels in the middle school division. The issue of “Biodiversity and Ecosystem Losses” was a concern for Grade 6 students, who inquired about the importance of sustaining biodiversity and became aware of the threats that the world has encountered due to ecosystem losses. Sixth graders communicated with American students from the partner Webb School in Tennessee and shared simultaneous concerns towards this global issue. After three months of rich input, our students were divided into heterogeneous groups whereby they had to choose one country, inquire about its biodiversity rate, and propose some solutions to this problem. The students’ varied presentations that were interactive and creative reflected their mastery of the concepts and their devotion to serious work.
