Place Value

It was time to inquire about Place Value. Students constructed meaning of this concept as they used raw pasta and were asked to make groups of tens. Any remaining leftovers would be separated as a group and they will be called ones. The students were eager to get started and worked together as a group. They were able to count the groups of tens and ones and they wrote their answers on the board. Afterwards students transformed meaning into symbol as they worked on separating, counting, gluing and writing their answers on construction paper.
